Common Black Girl Tag

I discovered this tag on YouTube and every race can do it and you basically make a list of commonly asked question towards your race and answer them. I also think that it helps break racial stereotypes. So here it goes..

  1. Are you from the hood? Yes. born and raced in the science projects.
  2. Do you like rap? The short answer to that question is no. I don't like the message behind it. If you went through my playlist it's a little bit of everything but I just can't agree with those hip hoppers in my ear telling me that bands are suppose to make me dance.
  3. Do you have a big butt? I like to say that my butt is super black girl fabulous.
  4. Is your hair weave? Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. Sometimes both.

  35. What is your favorite thing about being a black girl? Black women exude a beautiful strength, authority, instinct and independence that we don't even know we have. We have a rich history and background that most people view as depressing but I view it as we build a nation and didn't even realize it. Once we become aware of who we are as a people and not the stereotypes we will advance as people.

The Lazy Girl's Guide To Laundry

Who likes to do laundry?
Wierdos that's who. It takes to long. You have to keep getting up to check on your clothes. All that waiting, picking up, putting in, folding, hanging up and don't let you leave your clothes in the dryer. Then you will have to re-dry them so they won't be wrinkly. When you are a lazy girl like me, laundry is the worse thing on the to do-list. But since I have been growing up into adulthood and living on my own its time to develop a routine that will ensure that my clothes are properly taken care of. And that's what I did here this is what I call "the lazy girl guide to laundry."

Get Through Laundry Quicker So You Can Go Back To Being Lazy!

A good lazy person finishes everything they need to get done efficiently first so they can go back to laziness. When it comes to laundry you can't just throw everything in the washer and dryer and leave it there. If you want to do you laundry the efficient and lazy way then keep reading...

  1. Motivation. To start doing your laundry you have to have motivation and you can't let everything pile up to the point that you have nothing to wear. Smells are my motivation. I like to go to the laundry isle and smell are the fabric softens and so my motivation is that I want my clothes to smell like downy infusions. So find some motivation and get your laundry done because the more you let it pile up the less motivation you will have to do it in the future.
  2. Schedule. Plan when you are going to wash you clothes. I wash my clothes and towels every two weeks. And my bedding every month. If blood Mary makes a visit I usually wash my sheets after she leaves.
  3. Sorting. This is the easiest step because you get to sit on the floor! Pour our all your dirty clothes on the floor and sort them into four to six piles; darks, lights, whites, delicates, towels, and bedding. when you have a garment with multiple colors find the dominant color and wash it with that family.
  4. Darks. I get together all the blacks, greys, reds, dark pinks, blues, and jeans into one pile. Wash this pile in cold water.
  5. Lights. This is very self explanatory. If it isn't dark or white it is a light, ego: includes pinks, mint, yellow, and creme.
  6. Delicates. Delicates would be anything that has a hand wash tag on it. That means that the washing machine and dryer will created to much tension on the fibers causing them to weaken or shrink. Bras are also dedicates because of the wires, straps and sometimes lace. We all want to preserve our precious bras so please hand wash them and hang them to dry. If you don't want to hand wash put them in the washer on delicate setting but do not put them in the dryer, let them hang to dry.
  7. Towels. Always make sure you have clean towels and face clothes. To keep your towels nice and fluffy do not use fabric softener. Fabric softener is like hair conditioner so the way hair conditioner can build up on your hair and make it brittle it can also do the same to your towels.
  8. Bedding. Do not neglect your sheets, pillow covers and comforter because they can harbor bacteria. If you are one of those people that likes to sleep in the nude there could be eccoli bacteria on your sheets. Your pillows can be one of the causes of your break outs so please wash those pillow covers.
  9. Washer. Do not overload the washer because your clothes may not get as clean. Make sure you adjust your temperature of your water so you will not shrink your clothes. Washing all clothes in cold water in saves energy and is safer for your clothes. Make sure you adjust your water level to fit the size of your load. This may seem like a bunch of minor details but it will save you clothes and time.
  10. Dryer. Do not over load your dryer because they will take longer to dry. Fill the dry half way up and use dryer balls. Dryer balls are these cute little spiky balls that dries your clothes faster, prevents static and gets rid of wrinkles.
And there you have it. In all this processes will take you about and hour and a half so you can go back to doing what you do best...nothing!

Wal-mart Beauty Haul!

Wal-mart Beauty Haul

So I went to the wonderful world of Wally to get a few beauty essentials.

  1.  Goody all- purpose brush. Easy to grip and small enough to fit in a purse or book bag. It also gets the job done! Only 2-3 dollars.
  2. Miss Manga by L'oreal. Best mascara ever in my opinion. I have thick lashes and this just amplifies them times 20. The one mascara that looks the way it does in the commercial! Only 6-7 dollars.
  3. Renewing argan oil of morocco by Organix. This stuff gives your hair life! Only 5-6 dollars
  4. Vacation Time by Sinful Colors. A very pretty blush. Only 1-2 dollars.
  5. Creme eye liner by Black Radiance. Glides on smoothly and last all day. The line is too thick for my taste but I haven't gotten the hang of it yet. 2-3 dollars.
  6. Fit me deep 360. Blends in flawlessly for us chocolate girls. I believe this was on sale for 4-5 dollars.
In all i am very satisfied with the products I bought. My haul only cost me around $25. Can't get that much stuff for $25 anywhere but Walmart.

Confidence and Self-Esteem heart to heart

I'm not a profession physiologist nor do I aspire to be but I like to share my thoughts with people. So here are my thoughts on confidence and self-esteem. I feel that confidence and self esteem are essential for a healthy and successful!

From my own experience I had to learn how to develop self-esteem and get over insecurities because there were no outside resources that told me I was absolutely amazing. And on top of that I was bullied for the majority of my life. Now I can proudly say that I am confident, I am secure with my being and I am happy. If you struggle with confidence and self-love then here are a few things that I leaned that helped me get to this point of high self esteem.

Find Out Who You Are

Its hard to have self esteem and self confidence when you are trying to fit the mold of someone else's expectations. So, who are you really? The best way to find out who you are is to listen to your heart. If it feels wrong and makes you uncomfortable then its not for you. If you don't like to "turn up" then you are not a turner upper. I don't want to turn up. I want to take my pants off after a long week and watch my stories! But on all seriousness throw away everything you think you are supposed to be and be you. Because you are special and all those turner uppers are crowds of blind sheep.

 Explore What You Love

So I'm a assuming you just took a good long look on yourself and realized that you have been following blind sheep? Yes? Good. Now you are reading to explore what you love, your talents, your gifts and what makes you happy. Once you have discovered these things about you then embrace it because they make you happy and nothing boost confidence like happiness.

 Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Nothing makes you feel worse about yourself when you start comparing yourself to others. Everyone has their own mission in life. Not everyone can be similar in skin color, height, personality, hair, social status, economic status. Differences make you special.

Stop Looking For Others For Validation

When you start looking for other people to validate your worth then you are setting yourself up for failure. Your value and your worth starts with you so take control of that. If you have to date someone just to feel like you are worthy to be loved then you are not taking control of your value. You teach people how to treat you. If you want people to truly love you for you then you have to do that for yourself. If you have to change yourself to fit in with a crowd or look like some celebrity then you are not taking control of your value. Be yourself and create your own standard of beauty.

                                                                   Let it go!

If it makes you feel bad about yourself then get rid of it. That includes negative people, words, music and ect. Sometimes people will put you down to make themselves feel better. Those people have self esteem issues of their own. If they are your friend then confront them about it but if you see no change then you have to let them go. If a song or T.V show make you feel bad about your body then let it go...like frozen. But really, we all need to make our own wells of positivity. You have to stop saying negative things about yourself because words are life. What you say is what you will become.

If You Really Don't Like it Change it

You can't fix everything but some things you can fix but you better have a good reason. If you are over weight then loose it. If you have messed up teeth then get braces. But somethings don't have fixes so you learn to love them anyway. For instance, I'm really short but instead of get leg implants or something or sitting in a corner crying because I can't reach the top shelf, I monkey climb and look cute while doing it.

                                                         Treat Yourself!

Every now and again take time to take care of yourself. Go to the spa. Make your own at home spa. Buy you a cute outfit. Or go out and look nice but don't do it for anyone else but you!

The Ten Commandment for a Happy Madame

So I went to Target and there was this woman in front of me that smelled like fishy Mcbites and it irritated the piss out of me because my nose hairs singed. I feel like all woman should know how to take care of their madame not just for your own personal health but for the sake of the people that have to smell you. We all know that one person or have came across that one person that smells like something unholy and if you have not then it's probably you. And if you have a friend that has madame issues then please share this with them for the good of all mankind. To keep this cute and classy lets name your vagina Madame Mary. Here are come commandments to keep Madame Mary Happy.

Thy Shall Take A Bath:

Weather you have a Virgin Mary, Proud Mary, or Bloody Mary, please take a bath or shower especial when you have a Bloody Mary. Madame Mary is naturally equipped to clean herself by use of discharge but it would be nice if you help her out by taking her for a dip in the tub. When it comes to cleaning Madame Mary try to avoid using scented soaps. I know it would be nice to walk around smelling like lavenders and roses but mother nature said no. Summers Eve and other feminine hygiene brands made washes design for the Mary so she doesn't get irritated. But not all Marys are the same, some can use these product and not have any problem but others can get irritated. It is important that you keep Mary and her other neighbors clean by using the soap that works for you. If Mary is crying red tears then please clean for at least twice a day.

Thy Shall Not Douche:

Some people claim that a douche helps keep their Marys happy but the problem with a douche is that it disturbs her PH-balance by reducing the acidity levels and making Mary more prone to get under the weather. Mary starts to release odors as a sign that she is sick with some sort of bacteria infection and your douches are masking the odors.

Thy Shall Feed Mary Healthy Foods:

Poor diet can affect the smells that Mary makes. Drinking ALLOT of water helps to flush out bacteria. Cranberry juice has properties that can help kill bacteria in the urinary tract and aid with yeast infections but make sure the cranberry juice is sugar free. A diet loaded with sugar and sodium can also cause yeast infections and UTI's. Yogurt is a  good food to eat because its packed with good bacteria that Mary loves. I have heard that Mary likes fruits such as pineapple.

Thy Shall Change Thine Pads and Tampons:

When Bloody Mary strikes always make sure you keep a clean pad or tampon. Wearing these things for a long period of time will result in Mary smelling like raw hamburger meat.

Thy Shall Wipe After a Sprinkle:

After a sprinkle remember to wipe front to back. Wiping back to front pushes bacteria towards the urinary track.

Thy Shall Wear Happy Underwear:

Lace and Satin underwear back be cute but Mary is suffocating. Cotton underwear is the best breathable fabric for Mary. Make sure you underwear isn't too small. If Mary is escaping then the underwear is too small for you bro.

Thy Shall Wear Clean Underwear:

Women are not like men in the since that we can't wear the same underwear for days and flip it around. If you do that the you are gross because Mary is always self cleaning. Make sure you wash your underwear in warm water to kill the bacteria. When Mary's tears stain your cute undies soak then in cold water and toothpaste and then clean.

Thy Shall Set Her Free:

As I mentioned before Mary likes to Breath. Sometimes wearing underwear to sleep can cause infections so every now and again sleep undieless. Those skinny jeans and booty shorts are creating heat down there for her and it makes the perfect breading ground for bacteria and odor. So be careful with how often you are wearing those clothing.

Thy Shall Keep Thine Legs Closedth:

When Proud Mary is engaging to thotetry or what ever you crazy kids are calling it you are opening her up to STD and other infections. If you have a Virgin Mary then you have nothing to worry about, but if you like to introduce Mary to Dick and Other Marys if thats what you are into then well be careful.

Thy Shall Go To The Gyno:

Take Mary to the doctor for exams to the best thing you can do if you choose to ignore all nine commandments. They let you know about everything that is going on with your little Mary. Its best if you find out whats going on with her before anything bad happens.

And there you go. If anything on this list offends you then I don't care. Remember you only get one Madame Mary. Be nice to her. Or people will make fun of you in the target check-out line.

Lazy Girl Guide to Studying

If you are anything like me you like to procrastinate. You will go out of you way to lay around and do nothing. Right? Well when you are in college you can't procrastinate as much as you could have in high school. Laziness has to be scheduled! I'm not kidding if you want to sit around watching Supernatural and yelling at the T.V all night that has to be planned or you will suffer for it later. Here is a guide on how to be lazy and get all of your homework and studying done so you can pass your classes! Some of these things I need to do better at.

Get organized

Being lazy is allot easier when everything has a place so it saves time. I organize all of my classes in one 1"1/2 inch binder and separate each class with tab dividers. Therefore, I don't have to scramble to look for notes or homework. Put dates on top of  you notes and homework assignments so you know when you covered this in class and the due date. If you are not a binder person then a five subject notebook works fine also. Make a file folder on your computer's desktop for each class to keep papers, power points, notes and syllabus for easy access.

Schedules

Get an agenda, download apps, or what ever you know you are going to use and plan out your week. I use a weekly organizer a calendar app on my phone and a dry erase board I can write everything I need to get done for the week in my weekly planner, put down important times and dates on my calendar and prioritize everything on my dry erase board. This way you are one step ahead because you are aware of what is going on. This way you can have room to plan out lazy days...and homework and study time. There is nothing worse than walking into a classroom and not knowing there is a test going on. I have been there.

Break It Down

It gets overwhelming when you are looking at a long list of crap to get done. Usually I look at it and go to sleep ,but I learned when you break thing up in segments it makes things easier. For example, I have a test Monday in Biology on Ch1-4. My brain goes too much info and I usually procrastinate. But If I break it down and study a chapter a day four days before the test, I will have more free time to relax. Or break it down by two chapters a day depending on the time you have. I learned from my textile class that cramming in allot of material in one day is not a good idea.

Color Yourself Happy

Sometimes its hard to get motivated. To help me stay motivated while getting studying down is coloring. It bring out the child in me. Invest in color pens, glitter pens, highlighters, sharpies, stickers, colorful sticky notes and index cards. Where ever you can get your happy color fix but don't go over board to the point where you can't read your notes. Color also helps you organize. For instance write vocab in pink, important things in red, thing you have trouble understanding in green and so on.

Helpful Study Websites

There are allot of flashcard website out there that you can use and allot of them allow you to share your cards with others. I used to be able to get pre-made flashcards for classes that someone in my class already made off Studyblue but now Studyblue wants to charge for using other people's stuff. If you are that kind of lazy and you have $3 and month to waste then Studyblue is for you. I use Quizlet because it is free and has games to play with the flashcards. There are many other study apps out there that you can download for your phone. You can also use Studyroom.com and it will connect you will your classmates and you can exchange information and ask questions about your classes.

And there you go, my guide to help you study an be lazy. =)

Wash Day: deep conditioning Brazilian hair to stop shedding and Creme of Nature Argan oil intensive conditioning treatment review

before

Its been a week or so since I washed my hair. Lately my weave has been shedding so i'm going to try and deep condition it to see if it would shed less. I have seen some YouTube videos of people deep conditioning their human hair extensions to stop shedding so why not try it out for myself. For this was I will be using;
1) Cantu Shea Butter Co-wash

2)Apple cider vinegar and baking soda mixture to clarify my scalp underneath.
3) Tea tree oil for scalp
4) Creme of Nature Argan Oil Intensive Conditioning Treatment

after

My results after using the deep conditioner was softer and shinier hair, no tangles and a little shedding but not as much as before. All I did was spray keratin oil on it and blow dry. I like my results from the Creme of Nature Argan Oil Intensive Conditioning Treatment.

Oil Cleansing

Allot of people ask me how do I get such nice skin? The short answer to that is that I'm Black. Lol no...maybe. But I just have normal skin and I break out before and during Bloody Mary's monthly visit. My skin tends to get oily during the summer and occasionally i get horrible chin bumps. The method I use to clean my skin is oil cleansing.

You might find it strange that you put oil on skin to clean it but scientifically like dissolves like. What     I have noticed when washing with soaps and salicylic acid is that you are stripping your skin of the natural oils and disturbing the natural PH balance so your skin reacts by over producing oil that leads to break outs. What the oil does is gently removes impurities, dirt and make up with out drying out the skin.

To start oil cleansing you need to do research on different oils and see which have more beneficial properties for your skin. I use a mixture of extra virgin olive oil, sunflower seed oil, and organic coconut oil. extra virgin olive oil is a great moisturizer and helps brighten skin for glowy even toned skin. Sunflower seed oil is packed with vitamin E that helps with acne scaring. Organic coconut oil smells nice and is perfect for getting off makeup and it contains acids to help kill the bacteria in your pores. If you have oily skin the coconut oil may be too heavy of an oil for your skin type. My mixture works fine for me and I have normal skin.

Once you have done your oil research. Put your mixture in a cute little pump bottle. The great thing about the oil method is that you only have to wash your have once a day. At night I start by using one pump to take my make-off. Once my makeup is mostly gone, I use another pump and rub It on my face using my face brush. Then i take a shower and let the steam get into my pores. What you want to do while using the oil cleansing method is to open you pores up by using steam. Once I have completed my shower I get a face cloth and wet it with warm water to wipe of the oil. And that is it. No moisturizer needed. I don't use any toners or any of that other fancy crap. Just oil and water nightly.

Tips and Tricks:
1) do not get it in your eyes
2) for best results leave the oil on for ten minutes
3) always use extra virgin, cold pressed, or organic
4) never take a shower with make-up on
5) always make sure your face cloth is clean. You don't want something dirty to wash your face with.
6) for more info on the oil cleansing i recommend you watch this youtube video:

5 Things to Like About Fall

Fall is just around the corner and i am beyond exited! Fall has to be the coziest season. My favorite season of the year is Spring, mostly because I am a Spring baby and I love the soft colors. But there is something about the crisp and cool air that just refreshes you from the melting heat that is summer. Where I'm from, in Alabama our summers are long and humid so fall doesn't really start until mid-October.

Since I am sick of my sweating my edges out and wearing sandals, here is my 10 things I love about Fall.

1) You can let your hair down.
For me, wearing my hair down is a struggle. In the summer I stick to cute and simple buns to keep my hair from frizzing and sticking to me in the heat. As much as I love buns after a while you start developing head aches from your bun being to tight. In the fall I can let my hair be free more. Although I usually have a weave in, In the fall I do not really have to worry about my leave out frizzing.

2) Comfort.
There is nothing like a chunky cable knit sweater, fleece tights and fluffy socks inside cute boots to make you feel comfortable. Pull overs, hoodies, sweaters, jackets, leggings, tights, skinny jeans, combat boots, thigh high boots, riding boots, booties, ankle boots and ugly Uggs are all Fall essential to stock up on. Don't forget warm cozy blankets for those chilly nights in, new slippers, fluffy socks, scarves and beanies!

3) Aroma.
Fall and Winter have to best smell. Spring and Summer are all fruity, tropically and flora and that's okay if you want to mess with your sinuses but Fall has warm relaxing fragrances such as pumpkin spice, cinnamon and brown sugar, warm vanilla, toasted marshmallow, candy corn, mocha latte, and candy apple to name a few. Bath and Body works put out their new Fall candle scents not to long ago and my nose did not like what it smelled. My favorite candles for Fall are pumpkin pie and marshmallow campfire.

4) Treats.
I am a foodie and I love season treats. For summer its watermelon and barbecued food. For Fall, there are so many treats. Pumpkin spice is what I look forward to. There are pumpkin spice muffins(Starbucks and Panera are the best I have tried), pumpkin spice coffee drinks(Starbucks), pumpkin spice cupcakes with cream cheese icing(Publix), and of course pumpkin pie. Soups, stews and anything you can throw in a crockpot. There is nothing like warm chili or chicken and dumplings to warm your hands and feed your soul. Halloween is a day full of treats from candy apples, to Rice Krispy treat shaped pumpkins and monsters. Thanksgiving fills your tummy with turkey, sage dressing, cranberry sauce, and candied yams. And do not forget about your hot chocolates with the shellows(marshmellow)!

5) Change it up

In the Fall its like the leave are about to embark on a new journey and leave their home. They go from dark green to browns, reds, oranges, and yellows and the wind comes and takes them away to new location. Designers like to mimic these colors into our wardrobe and homes. The color palate for fall are warmer and muted tones as oppose to summer bright and saturated hues. So look for dusty reds, mustard yellows, plums, olive greens, royal blues and mauve. You can pair these colors with browns, greys, black, white, go for the monochromatic look or if you are bold mix and match. Aside from fashion changing in the fall you activities change as well. Unless you live in Florida or somewhere with constant heat, you can't enjoy the beach anymore. In Alabama you can hang by the pool some days but you may have a leaf or two in your water but my point is that its not that same being in water in the fall. You can enjoy being outside more. You can go to a football game( I won't but you can). You can go on a hike and enjoy nature without dealing with as many bugs. When Halloween comes you can dress up and trick or treat or party. Or you can stay inside and watch scary movies.

TEE TIME FASHION SHOW

Every year my school throws a student fashion show called Tee Time. Tee Time is where we take unconventional materials and make garments from them. It's usually anything from t-shirts to paper plates. Tee Time celebrates earth day by using recycled material to create wearable and avante-garde pieces. Here are some of my favorites. Mine is the black toga made from bed sheets and toilet paper. I was going for a goddess look but I ran out of time because of writing papers and finals so mine is kind of thrown together...
