Fall/Winter Fashion report 16/17

I know 2015 is just around the corner but I'm excited for the fashion trends for 2016/2017 year. We are about to leave monochromatic 2 piece sets, A-lined silhouettes, tailored, clean and polished looks for something a little more rugged, raw and over sized. Style looks such as; Remaster, Artisan, Offbeat and Elemental will take over in the upcoming seasons.

 Remaster

For the remastered look think of someone taking the Mona Lisa painting and hacking at it with scissors. Remastering is deconstruction old looks. It is taking Victorian and Medieval costumes and making them modern and ready-to-wear. Remaster-drama, romance and history with a modern edge!

How to get the look?

make up mistakes, santa baby, matte lips, job interview, invisible zipper, and cleaning sewing machines: Favorite vlogs of the week 12/14/14

I'm starting a new thing where I share some of my favorite vlogs I watched this week!

Pretty Cheap: One Dollar Shampoo

My hair is like Regina George because sometimes she personally victimizes me and when it comes to shampoo I can't use cheap shampoo because she will get vengeful. But VO5 and White Rain shampoos always make their way into my bathroom because people like to buy it and give it to me. "Thanks, but no thanks." is what I thought until I discovered the use for this stuff!
  1. Clean make-up brushes and paint brushes. If you add a few drops to a cup of water and soak. This get rid off all that oil, glitter and gunk.
  2. Clean hair brushes and combs. Run some water in the sink and fill with shampoo, then clean out your hair tools
  3. Fix a stuck zipper. Add a drop to lubricate the zipper.
  4. Hand-washing.
  5. Clarify hair. Once a month clarify your hair with this shampoo. The sulfates and harsh detergents with get out all of the product build-up
  6. Lastly, This stuff makes the BEST bubble bath. Normal bubble bath bubbles only last or a minute or two but this stuff last for hours! I would buy this over bubble bath any day!

I met Rebecca Minkoff!

She came to Saks Fifth Avenue in Birmingham, Al earlier this month. She scared me because she's tall and skinny. I wasn't prepared, but she is fabulous.

Fall/Winter Pamper Evening

So I like pamper evenings. Allot. I like to take time out of like and take care of me. Plus its a perk of being a lady; bubble baths, scented candles, face mask, nail color, shampoo, conditioner all of that good jazz. Here I listed the steps I take to pamper myself.

Inside:

I like to start off with a good meal and I take my vitamins and drink plenty of water because I usually forget during the week. I take Fish Oil during the fall/winter to help strengthen my immune system and it help in healthy brain function and I also take One A Day Women's M
ultivitamins and Hair Skin and Nail Vitamin with Argan oil. After I'm done with my pampering I like to eat chocolate or have some hot cocoa.

 Set the Mood:

To set my pamper mood, I use with candles and music. I like to use fall/winter themed candles like gingerbread cookie and vanilla cupcakes.

Face:

To start pampering my face I washing it with my cleansing oils to get rid of make up and bacteria. I apply more oil and use my cleansing brush on the exfoliate setting to exfoliate my skin. Then I apply my Freeman oatmeal and avocado face mask. Sometime I use my lip exfoliating mask from Mary Kay. After 15-20 minutes I tone my face with Apple Cider Vinegar and moisturize with coconut oil.

Hair:

For my hair I either apply a hot oil treatment or a pre-poo or a protein treatment. Then I wash it out in the shower with shampoo. Then I follow the shampoo with a apple cider vinegar rinse or a teas rinse. Then I apply either a deep conditioner or a rinse out conditioner. After 3-20 minutes I rinse out the conditioner. Next I rinse with cold water to seal my follicles and then I t-shirt dry. After t-shirt drying I moisturize my hair using the LOC method. For my oil I use olive oil because it is a thicker oil. Lastly I braid my hair and air dry.

Teeth:

I whiten my teeth with hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and salt.

Body:

I usually take a bubble bath with baby oil and sometimes I make a detox bath (I will make a post about my favorite detox bath later!) And I also exfoliate my body with a body brush or a coffee scrub(Post on that later too).

Nails:

First I take off that ugly chipped nail polish. I like to soak my nails in warm oils, then push back my cuticles, afterward. I then file, clip and use a nail strengthener.

Resist Dye Tour

Advice on Taking care of African American skin from a MAC beauty expert.

So yesterday I went to a beauty seminar for African American women and a woman from MAC cosmetics gave us some advice for taking care of African American Skin. Here are a few of the key things she mentioned.

  • Less is more. Don't wear allot of make up everyday. African American skin is high quality skin that does need to be covered all of the time. Only contour your face for special events and going out. contouring is an artistry when done right it can slim out chubby face when done wrong you can look like a drag queen.
  • The everyday face. The everyday face for black women should consist of two steps foundation and eyebrows. First fill in eyebrow with a brow pencil. Apply foundation or BB creme all over you face including the eyelids to give the effect that you are wearing eye shadow. concealer should be used to cover up and blemishes or dark marks.
  • Eyebrows. To start of with eye brows invest in a good eyebrow pencil. shape the to your natural shape brown and conceal underneath and on top. concealer should be no more than five shade down from your foundation color. When you go to get eyebrows waxed or threaded please do not apply makeup afterwards or beforehand because you don't want anything irritating that area.
  • Dark spots. Dark spots come from us popping and picking at pimples and then going out in the sun with out sun screen and the sun darkens that area. Clean the affected area and apply sunscreen for protection. To get rid of existing dark spots apply lemon juice and honey mix to the area
  • Facials. Invest in facial mask or make some at home. Before you can apply any make up you have o start on healthy skin. try out different system for at least a month to see which one your skin likes. and make sure you follow up with a good moisture creme. Always make sure you never sleep in makeup.
  • Lip liner. Lip liners are for shaping the lip. When picking a lip liner always use a shade or two darker than the lip stick. Never match the lip color or choose a color lighter than.First apply lipstick to the lip leaving outer corners and edges bare and pat lips together. Then apply the lip liner to out edges and corner to define the shape of the lip.

November: GPA awareness month

So it's November and that is national GPA month. During national GPA awareness month you have allot of test, projects and papers going on and less time to do it because of thanksgiving break and it could be a little stressful. So here are a few of my tips to relieve stress during the time of the semester!

  1. Make a calendar. You are less stress when you know when everything is due.
  2. Make a list. List everything you need to get done that week and that day. I use an app on my on my phone called Anydo and it helps me keep track of my life, when my brain gives up.
  3. Take it a step at a time. procrastination and multitasking is a no break things up day by day or week by week or hour per hour
  4. Clean your space. The less clutter the less stress.
  5. Take breaks. But not too much!
  6. Drink some tea. It helps with stress and healthier than coffee
  7. Get enough sleep
  8. Take a bath, it relieves stress
  9. Eat right, make sure you are not stuffing your face with sugar and greasy. Healthy foods are better for the brain
  10. Ask for help. Sometime we can't do this alone!
How do you handle school stress? please share!

Cozy day Routine

Hello my pretties! I haven't blogged in a week or two do to allot of test I had to study for but I'm back for a new entry and I'm going to explain my cozy day routine. Yay!

So its cold and rainy outside and the perfect time for a cozy pamper day, because who want to leave their house when its 40 degrees outside, and raining all day. "Not I!" said the girl with a panda bear pillow pet. So this is what I do when its absolutely atrocious out there.
  • Start the day off with breakfast. Today, I had french toast and sausage links with a cup of hot chocolate. I use almond milk instead of regular milk and it just gave it so much life!
  • After some cocoa, breakfast and T.V I take a nice little shower to get yesterday's icky off. I shave, wash and condition my hair, and wash myself with Caress body wash and an exfoliating brush. Then I apply some baby oil and lotion.
  • For my face, I oil cleanse as usual then exfoliate with my cleansing brush. Then, I use an oatmeal and avocado mask by Freeman's. After my mask has dried I remove it with warm water then apply some coconut oil on my face for some moisture and I put on some chap stick for my lips. I wear sweatpants, a big tee and my fuzzy slippers
  • After I have treated my body and prepared my hair, I just lay in bed and watch T.V for hours until I get bored.
  • When I'm bored I just play on my phone, or listen to music right now I'm listening to Nick Jonas new album on Spotify. It's really good you guys!
And That is pretty much it. How are your cozy days?

Make it Like Frozen and Let it Go; Makeup, hair products, clothes, old tracks...

"Less Stuff, Less Stress"

So I have came to the conclusion that i have to much stuff for my own good. I'm not a horder. Okay not a Burried alive one but I have a collecting problem and a buying problem. If its cute, I want it. If I think it make benefit me, I want it. If its on sale, I want it. If it is free, I want it. So after reevaluating my life I have came to the conclusion that this has got to stop. To be honest my bank account told me I have got to stop. And I want to live a minimalistic lifestyle because I think its less stressful. I realized the reason why I have too much stuff is because I'm afraid of not having any stuff so I collect things for the future and then it ends up gathering dust.

I wondered if anyone else shared my issue of having to much stuff, so I went to Youtube! I found this woman named Pinksofoxy and her series of "less stuff less stress" videos. What she does is go through all of her stuff and just starts making piles of things to keep, throw away and give away. The amount of things she had was unreal and she gave the majority of it away to a women helping women organization. So she has just inspired me to go through all of my clostes, draws, boxes, bins, and bags and just get rid of things and just declutter. The only things I'm not getting rid of is clothes. Usually during the Summer I go through all of my clothes and get rid of things, so I think I'm good on that issue. I really just need to stop buying thing just because they are on sale. For now on if I need it. I will buy it.

So for the next couple of days I will be purging to organize and simplify. I hope this post has inspired you to reevaluate your stuff. Why do you have it? Do you use it? If someone broke into your house and stole it. would you know its gone? Does it have a place to live? Below is a link to PinkSoFoxy's video!

Pretty Cheap: Baby Oil

$1-$3
So I'm gona start a new theme for my blog called  "Pretty Cheap" and I will just blog about really cheap products that you can use for beauty. So My first Pretty Cheap Item is baby oil. Yes that oil that smells like fresh babies.

What is baby oil? Baby oil is mineral oil with added fragrances. So what is mineral oil? Mineral oil is a liquid by product from petroleum. So like liquid Vaseline. Is this stuff healthy? I don't know I am a fashion student not a biology major. But I do know that this is some amazing stuff and you can use it in many different ways. So here is a list:

  1. Make-up remover. I don't use make-up remover, I use oil, but not baby oil. I oil cleanse with olive oil, sunflower seed oil and coconut coil. But if you are not an oil cleanser (I don't know why not) baby oil will remover your eye make up easily.
  2. Foot oil. So I've heard if you apply baby oil to your foot and go to sleep with socks on, it will smooth cracked feet.
  3. Shaving oil. I've also heard that this will replace your shaving creme.
  4. After shave.
  5. Shower oil. I used to buy fancy dry body oils until I read the back of the label and it was mostly made of mineral oil, and fragrances. So I was paying $8 for a small bottle of fancy looking mineral oil? I think not I switched to baby oil for $2 and got the same results.
  6. Bath oil. Make your bubble bath extra fancy with a few squirts of this magic. You will have the softest skin of life
  7. Hot oil treatment for nails. Heat it up and soak your nail in it 5 to 10 minutes to prevent dry and brittle nails
  8. Exfoliate. Mix with sugar or use it with an exfoliating brush to remove dead skin for your body.
  9. Keep razors from rusting. Put a few drops of oil on it so your razor can last longer.
Do you know any other beauty uses for baby oil? Please share!

Autumn Style Survival Kit

I glanced through my closet today to see get out my Fall clothes and I realized that allot of my shirts and jeans do not fit anymore so now I need to go out and get some flannels or a denim shirt or two. This got me to thinking if anyone else does seasonal inventory on their wardrobe each year. Maybe not everyone is as strange as me when it comes to clothes but each season I must have a seasonal staple or I just feel incomplete as a fashion girl. So I made this little Fall staple list and its sort of a  survival kit to put my fashion OCD at ease.

  1. Cardies. Charlotte Ruse is having a $20 outwear sale!
  2. Legging.
  3. Beanies
  4. Sweaters.
  5. Jeans
  6. Boots
  7. Scarves
  8. Denim Shirt.
  9. Flats. For those not that cold outside days
  10. Jacket.
  11. Fannel
  12. Socks.

Does your weave smells like Feet? I can help fix that

Does your Weave smell like corn chips? Have you ever scratched your weave and sniffed your finger and it smells like sweaty socks? No? Liar. The truth is if you wear a weave for a long period of time it will stink. And if you don't wash it, it will stink. Think about it. You scalp is producing oil and is not getting any fresh air nor is it being washed. And you are trapping it under track
s and caps so all of that is building up and it will stink. If you use glue then that's a different story of stink weave. But for my sew-in sisters, I have gotten my weave washing routine down to that it does not smell at all. When I scratch my scalp and sniff my finger it smells like happiness. So here is a list of all of my steps to cleaning my scalp.

  1. Pre-poo. Pre-pooing is a step that you do prior to shampooing. You basically saturate you hair in conditioners or oils so that when you shampoo your hair there will be less damage from the sulfates. With my weave I pre-poo with a hot oil treatment that consist of tea tree oil and coconut oil. This is highly recommended because these oils contain anti-bacterial properties. Since your scalp has the tendency to trap bacteria and may build up mildew under  your weave then you must use an anti-bacterial agent. Let this sit for 10 to 15 minutes or over night with a shower cap on
  2. Shampoo. Part your weave into four sections or in a way that it is easier to get to your scalp. Mix shampoo and water together in an application bottle and apply to scalp. Then, gently massage to lather into your hair. I use Garnier Frutise fortifying shampoo to clean my scalp.
  3. Shampoo Again. After shampooing your scalp, apply shampoo to your weave to help get out the oils from your weave. I use Organix's Brazilian Keratin Shampoo on my weave because it dose not contain sulfates...and smells like chocolate.
  4. Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse. ACV kills bacteria and clarifies the scalp. Pour ACV  onto the scalp and let sit for a minute or two then rinse.
  5. Condition. Condition hair and scalp as usual. Make sure you rinse the conditioner out thoroughly to avoid product build up.
  6. Dry. Do not let your real hair air dry! When your real hair is left damp for days you will have mildew growing underneath there! And that smells HORRIBLE!
If you follow these steps at least once a week you will never have stink weave!

In October We Wear Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And what is a good way to help raise awareness for breast cancer? Making a list of you favorite pink things!

So pink is my go to color for allot of things so the majority of the things I own is pink. Pink phone case, bed sheets, sewing supplies, pillows, rag and towels are all pink. I've looked threw some of my beauty product and found a few of my favorite pink beauty products.

  1. Rome Honeysuckle Amore from bath and body works. I've had this bottle of lotion since January and it is half way gone and that is a big deal for me because it usually takes me a year to use up an entire bottle of anything from Bath and Body works and Victoria Secret. And that is because I have such a wide variety of lotions to choose from but this lotion has been my go to scent. The smells include; Italian peach, Blackberry, Green Mandarin, Pink Honeysuckle, White Raspberry, Peony, Golden Amber, Soft Sandalwood, and Cypress Wood. To me it smells like the perfect Valentines Day. It contains Shea Butter, Vitamin E, and Jojoba Oil. It normally goes for $11.00 but I take advantage of semi-annual sales and get it for $3!
  2. Sweet Pea. I got this toiletry set that came with body wash, lotion, body butter, body spray and perfume for Christmas a few years ago and I have no idea where it came from but it smells like pretty sweat pea flowers and its not from bath and body works. The perfume can in this cute little key chain bottle and it is perfect to keep in your purse just in case you forgot to put a smell on your body.
  3. Physician's Formula Sexy Lip stain/ gloss. Okay so this is the best stuff ever. I got it from Target on clearance and I have no idea what it cost. It is a fushia pink and it smells like vanilla. The smell is suppose to attract men and make your lips irresistible (so the packaging said). I like the color, it last all day and it makes your lips soft and smell nice.
  4. Flamingo Pose from Milani. Milani is my favorite lipstick and this hot pink looks fab on dark skin!
  5. EOS. The EOS craze it real you guys. I wouldn't go as far to say that it is the best lip balm ever but the whole organic thing makes you feel like you are doing something good for your body. If you don't know about EOS it is 95% organic lip balm that contains vitamin e and shea butter and it last for a very long time. I use strawberry sorbet and I've had this thing for a year and I really want to try the new coconut milk one.
There you go. Remember that breast cancer could affect anyone. Remember to get your boobies checked! You can do at home breast exams at home as well! Save the love the boobies! Save the boobies! Do you have a favorite pink product? Please share!

My Childhood Dream Job/ My Dream Job Now #blogtober14

My Childhood Dream Job/ My Dream Job Now

So when I was a child I always wanted to be some type of doctor or scientist. At some point I wanted to be an astronaut but then I realized I'm afraid of heights. Then I wanted to be a Marine Biologist but then I realized I don't like boats, water and I can't swim. Then I wanted to be a zoologist but then I realized I only like cute, small, fluffy animals. Then I came to the confusion that i wanted to be a doctor but then all of a sudden math got harder.

Now my dream job is to be an internationally known fashion designer like Kate Spade or Betsy Johnson. Dreams will come true!

If I Won The Lottery I'd...#Blogtober14

If I won the Lottery I'd...

Todays prompt for Blogtober is "If I won the lottery I'd..."

If I won the lottery in a perfect world I would buy red bottoms but I know that is not the smartest thing to. So I will take my winnings and leave UA to go to FIT, or Parson's in New York. The rest of the money I would use to pay off student loans and that's pretty much it. I would use it to go crazy and spend it on the most expensive pairs of shoes ever but I'd rather invest in long term happiness.
